A well-designed irrigation system keeps a lawn green through a Midlands summer without running up the water bill. A poorly designed one waters the driveway, drowns the shrubs, and leaves dry spots in the middle of the yard. We design each system around your lawn, your beds, and your water pressure, then install it and make sure every zone works before we leave.
Irrigation installs are some of our most common jobs. One customer who hired us for a new system said the crew worked quickly, cleaned up after, and made sure everything was working correctly. That last part matters: we test every head and every zone with you before we call the job finished.

How the job works
- 1Check pressure and layout. We measure water pressure and flow, map the lawn and beds, and note sun and shade before designing zones.
- 2Design and quote. You get a zone plan and a written quote. We explain head types and where each zone will water.
- 3Install. Lines are trenched, heads and valves set, the controller wired, and the soil and turf put back.
- 4Test and hand off. We run every zone with you, adjust heads for coverage, and program a starting schedule for the season.
Watering for Midlands heat and Midlands soil
Columbia summers regularly bring weeks in the mid to upper 90s with long gaps between rain. Warm-season lawns like bermuda and zoysia generally need about an inch of water a week, including rain, to stay green through that stretch. Tall fescue needs more and still struggles. A system that runs deep and less often, early in the morning, grows deeper roots than one that sprays a little every evening.
Soil type changes how a system should run. Sandy loam in the southern and eastern parts of the Columbia area soaks water in fast but does not hold it, so it does better with shorter, more frequent cycles. Red clay takes water in slowly and runs off if a zone runs too long, so we set up cycle-and-soak programs that water in shorter bursts.
Before any trenching we call SC 811 to have underground utilities marked. Most Midlands water utilities also require a backflow preventer on irrigation lines tied to the public water supply, and we install one that meets those requirements. Our winters are mild, but hard freezes do happen, so we show you how to protect the backflow and shut the system down when a cold snap is coming.
What affects the price
Every property is different, so we quote each job after seeing it. These are the things that move the number most:
- Size of the property and number of zones
- Mix of rotors, spray heads, and drip for beds
- Water pressure and whether the tap or meter setup needs changes
- Controller type, standard or smart Wi-Fi
- Obstacles such as driveways and walkways that need boring under
- For repairs: how many problems there are and how hard they are to locate

Timeline and warranty
Most residential installs take one to three days depending on the number of zones and obstacles. Repairs are often finished in a single visit once the problem is found.
